Day 31 · False Friend
A word about attending, not helping
Asistir
ah-sees-TEER — To attend — NOT "to assist"
"Voy a asistir a la reunión mañana."
I'm going to attend the meeting tomorrow.
"To assist" (help) is "ayudar." "Asistir a" always means being present at an event, not lending a hand.
"My students always assume this means "to help" the first time, and I love watching the surprise on their face."— Graciela
