Day 13 · Everyday
Hedging without committing
A lo mejor
ah loh meh-HOR — Maybe / perhaps
"A lo mejor voy a la fiesta, no estoy seguro."
Maybe I'll go to the party, I'm not sure.
More common in everyday speech than "quizás" or "tal vez" — note it takes the indicative (voy), not the subjunctive, which trips up a lot of learners.
"I use this constantly when I'm being politely noncommittal about weekend plans — very Spanish of me."— Graciela
